PROTECT OUR WATERS PROTECT OUR WATERS PROTECT OUR WATERS PROTECT OUR WATERS PROTECT OUR WATERS WAPOA's Annual Shoreline Restoration Open House - June 11th The annual WAPOA Shoreline Restoration open house will be held on Saturday June 11, 2022 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Moonlite Bay Family Restaurant, 37627 County Road 66, Crosslake. Join via Zoom or in person. Presenters include Shelley Larson and Laura Mendoza, several property owners that have completed/are completing shoreline restoration projects, vendors familiar with shoreline restoration projects with willow wattle, coir logs and native plants; and Staff from Crow Wing Soil and Water will speak on the benefit of site visits and possible future funding opportunities. Land next to your shoreline planted with native flowers acts as a buffer to protect your lake from lawn run off and hopefully reduce the phosphorus level and weed growth in the lake. Buffers planted with native flowers do not have to look "messy" or be too tall to block your view. Opportunities to participate in community build shoreline restoration projects in 2022 will be presented. This is a great way to learn about how a shoreline restoration project is completed first-hand. If you would like to attend, please email Kristie Roedl, the WAPOA Shoreline Restoration director at Kristieplummerroedl@gmail.com.
