PROTECT OUR WATERS · PROTECT OUR WATERS Shoreland Restoration Open House Attention Shoreline Property Owners Would you like some answers on how to restore your shoreland, add buffer zones, and reduce fertilizers and phosphorus from going into your lakes? A buffer zone is an area of land next to the lake that is cleared of existing weeds and grasses. Native wildflowers and grasses that help the pollinators and butterflies are then planted. This buffer acts to filter the water running off the lawns to reduce the amount of fertilizers, pesticides and soil running off into our lakes. Kristie Roedl, the WAPOA Shoreland Management Director will be holding a ZOOM meeting for the public on June 5th starting at 9:00 am. Local vendors will be available to discuss their shoreland restoration ideas. Property owners that plan to do projects this year will review their projects and answer questions you might have. The goal of the open house is to educate people on how they can prevent soil erosion, plant native flowers and help improve water quality. All participant names will be put in a drawing for gift certificates from three restaurants in the Cross Lake area. Please contact Kristie if interested at kristieplummerroedl@gmail.com for more information and to register for this meeting. You will be sent an email and you will just need to click on the link in the email to access the meeting. 50 Learn more about WAPOA and how to 1970 WAPOA 2020 protect our lakes.
