COMMUNITY ACTION Community Action PEQUOT of Pequot Lakes LAKES SERVING THE COMMUNITY Features Member Jeane Haurum of northern Treasures and museum When you talk of a "native" Pequot Lakes person, Jeane Haurum comes close. Moving to Ossawinnamakee Lake at the age of two with her family, graduating from Pequot Lakes High School when it was the old school building, and now operating Jeane's Northern Treasures and Museum in the old Methodist Church building on Brown Street for the last 15 years, certainly qualifies her for that title. After 55 years as a hairdresser in Brainerd, retirement and a love of old churches brought on her new career. Still an avid car collector, Jeane is totally involved in Pequot activities as a member of the Community Education Board, organizing the contest to design a Pequot Lakes flag, and when it comes to CAPL's Santa's Bobbin' Into Town in December, Jeane can be found as the welcoming elf for the Library's Children's Program at the Cole Building and organizing the choir to be found on the Park Board's float each year. Northern Treasures is open from Opening Fishing until Halloween or by appointment other times and the new Barbie Museum will be up and running this year. Community Action of Pequot Lakes welcomes this very active business person as a member. Check out Community Action of Pequot Lakes Facebook Page for upcoming events and community information.
